Warts are a benign growth in the skin caused by a virus. Warts can be found on any part of the body, but the most common areas are on the hands and feet. Warts are most often seen in children.

They are commonly mistaken for corns or calluses, especially those on the bottom of the foot.

They often start while a person has a small cut on the bottom of their foot; the cut provides a portal of entry for the virus.  If the virus is not treated it will begin spreading to other areas of the foot. It is also possible for the virus to infect other members of a family.

Although there are many different types of treatments, I recommend a weekly application of 60 percent salicylic acid. This may take 3 to 4 visits.  In my experience, salicylic acid is the most appropriate treatment method as it leaves no scarring of the skin.
